This song was born out of ideas in Vincent Persichetti's book Twentieth-century harmony. The chord progressions are based around a signle chord shape moved around in even intervals to create a sense of connectedness between the otherwise jarring key changes. It was definitely an interesting exercise to write a melody over the chords and took me well beyond my comfort zone as a noodling guitarist.
